We had a little family party for Emmalyn's birthday with the home teachers. She isn't having her party with friends until November 1st so we wanted to do something fun with her on her birthday. Steve made her a cake that was pink with white and pink frosting and purple writing. It was really horrible looking because he didn't realize that a cake decorating tip needed to be put on the end of the tube so the frosting just blobbed out everywhere. Emmalyn didn't care though. She thought the cake was wonderful. She even helped put on sprinkles. When she said prayer on dinner she thanked Heavenly Father that she could have a heart party. After the prayer she told us that she had a heart party because she love us. Isn't that precious.
She got the candles out with about 4 or 5 blows. My big concern was the fact that her hair kept falling down right next to the candles. She may even have singed a couple but thankfully there was no disaster. For presents, Zachary got her a Hannah Montana Doll and Mommy and Daddy got her Wedding Day Ken and Barbie. She wanted a "fancy" barbie really bad. She liked the light up ring that came with the barbie more than the barbie itself though. Isn't it funny that she could have just been happy with a $1 toy. Ha Ha. She is really excited that Zachary can play with her now that she has a boy doll.
The cake and ice cream was delicious. Emmalyn went with Steve to pick out all the cake an ice cream needs on Saturday. She picked the white cake which we then dyed pink and also the pink-strawberry frosting. She picked birthday cake ice cream too. I didn't think that sounded very good but it actually was. A little much maybe but not horrible.
When Emmalyn woke up this morning we wanted to sing her happy birthday, you know, for her birthday but she refused to allow it because it wasn't her party yet. She wasn't four until she had a party. At church she kept reminding us that she would be 4 at her party. It was so funny. We finally convinced her later that you could have a birthday and get older even if you weren't able to have a birthday party. We sure do love having children to entertain us. They are precious.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMMALYN!!!!!

Very fun! Happy birthday Emmalyn! We need to get together!! I was thinking about tomorrow, but I am going to be watching Joshua Burns now. Maybe you guys could come over here. I am sure Derek would love playing with Emmalyn.
Ok, that was just too funny. How sweet that her daddy made her cake - I'm not sure how that would have turned out at our house. I think maybe I should open a dollar store because the junkier the toys, the more my kids love them. Your kids are so sweet and getting so big! Happy birthday Emmalyn!
The cake turned out great. I always love home-made over store bought because of all the character that comes with it.
